New "Reiki-er"

Hi all...I am excited to be joining such a dynamic forum. I hope to learn more about Reiki and the spirituality associated with it's techniques. I have heard that this is an extraordinary culture and I am trying to get more involved in this experience and get in touch with my inner self. I would love to hear your story on how you got into Reiki and what it has done for you. Thanks : ) -Samantha.

I got into reiki because i was searching for an alternative healing practice that would help my CFS and Fibromyalgia , i use reiki everyday since i have been attuned in the 90's, now i am a reiki teacher. I started out doing myself and family, then moved on doing healings in my house, then did reiki classes in my home then now i am doing reiki teachings and other classes online and attunements and practice can be done in my home by appointment or by distance. So I have developed my practice with time. I didnt start out being a teacher i started out looking for help for myself. :)
Spiritually wise it has made me advance to a higher being and frequency.; ▶ Reply to This

Thank you for your explanation to my inquiry. It sounds like many group members have a great deal of experience with the spirituality and metaphysical thought surrounding Reiki. The advanced knowledge of others can be a bit intimidating for a beginner like myself, but I thank you for your communication and welcoming. Like your searching for an alternative healing practice, I too am in search for an outlet of spirituality as I have been experiencing a conflict in my religious faith for the past couple of years. If I only I lived in Michigan I would request to come for a Reiki session at your home! However, I see that you mentioned that such services can be provided by distance. Permalink Reply by Reiki Dave on January 24, 2009 at 12:15am: Excellent question. I've always been a spiritual seeker and my search took me from Christianity to metaphysical thought. Once I started getting into metaphysical thought all sorts of things suddenly started to make sense and reiki was one of them. The first time I had it done to me I felt an enormous amount of heat from the practitioners hands and I knew this was something I had to learn. Reiki training can get quite expensive but I was fortunate enough to get a lot of it via low cost online education and some of it from friends who taught me at no cost. Once I started to get students I realized that distance attunements really do work and many of my students reported some very powerful experiences during their attunements. Once I started doing in person classes the experiences were the same. I gave back the gift that I was given by creating my own web based reiki class and offering it at a very reasonable cost and sometimes for free. My path is the spiritual seeker and to share with the world what I find. Reiki is a part of what I've found on my spiritual path which must be shared; ▶ Reply to This

Thanks so much for your explanation regarding your journey into Reiki. I too was brought up a Christian, but have found myself to be at a loss over the past couple of years in terms of religiosity. I think that Reiki and the spirituality that it can offer to those who are in conflict with their childhood faith (like myself) can be a very powerful outlet. I hope to benefit from the educational services that you provide as it seems that you have really established yourself within this domain of metaphysical thought. I am eager to learn more about some of the concepts that you mentioned in your post (i.e. attunements, metaphysical thought). Once again I thank you for your communication and I look forward to speaking again.

Just click on the "groups" tab at the top of any page then click on the reiki level 1 group (which is actually a class) or level 2 or whatever class or group you'd like to join. I got into Reiki after recieving distant healing (from a Reiki Master in India), for a complaint that was not responding to conventional treatments. Within a couple of weeks the complaint was resolved. I was amazed that a person in India could heal someone in Australia. After that I asked to be accepted as a Reiki student, and a few years later; I now teach Reiki ro others. Reiki has put me very much in touch with spirituality, and has mellowed many of my reactions to people and to life. I feel deep gratitude to my teacher in India for having shared Reiki with me.
